Stewart Hyndman is a University of Idaho graduate, small business owner, and lifelong conservative who has spent decades serving Idaho — from managing one of the state's largest cattle operations to opening international trade offices across the globe.

University of Idaho

Associate professor and extension agent advising on livestock management.

Warm Springs Ranch

Managed Idaho's third-largest cow/calf operation — approximately 2,300 head.

Idaho Department of Agriculture

Rose from inspector to State Marketing Director. Opened trade offices in Taipei, Guadalajara, and Shanghai — negotiating international deals affecting millions in commerce.

Entrepreneur

Potato export company, restaurant, grocery store, custom-bonded warehouse — and for the past 20 years, his Farmers Insurance agency in Nampa.

Community Leader

Idaho GOP State Committeeman for Canyon County. Back the Blue Idaho sponsor. NWTF SW Idaho Chapter chair. Canyon County Impact Fee Committee member.

Stewart and his wife Dianne have four adult children and eight grandchildren. When he's not working, you'll find him competing in triathlons, hunting, shooting sporting clays, or fly fishing.

Where I Stand

Canyon County added 16% more people since 2020. That growth brings opportunity — but only if someone is watching out for the people already here. That's my job.

When a new subdivision goes in, who pays for the roads, the water, the schools? Right now, too much of that falls on existing homeowners.

As a member of Canyon County's Impact Fee Committee, I've seen this problem up close. I'll make sure growth pays its own way — through proper impact fees and responsible budgeting — so your taxes don't go up to build someone else's infrastructure.

Experience Canyon County Impact Fee Committee member

Our jail was built in 1991 for a county one-third this size. Pod 6 is closed. Officers are working in facilities with 1,600+ documented maintenance failures.

This isn't a talking point — it's a crisis. As a proud Back the Blue sponsor, I'll prioritize modern facilities that protect both the officers who keep us safe and the public they serve.

Commitment Back the Blue Idaho sponsor

I'm not anti-growth. I managed 2,300 head of cattle and opened trade offices on three continents. I know what it takes to build something.

But 275,000 people and climbing means we need infrastructure before permits, not after. I'll protect agricultural land, demand that roads and services keep pace with rooftops, and preserve what makes Canyon County worth living in.
